Our Story
One of our founder Ben's earliest memories is falling asleep to the sound of his dad mowing the lawn long into warm summer evenings.
After a full day's work and a hearty supper, his father would spend hours keeping a sprawling garden under control. It wasn't a hobby. It was simply another job that had to be done.
As a teenager, the mowing became Ben's responsibility. The pocket money was welcome, but the novelty disappeared quickly. In one of the warmest and wettest parts of the country, the grass always seemed to be growing faster than he could cut it.
Then the garden expanded.
It became a regular open garden for visitors, and the push mower was replaced with a ride-on. The hard work was gone, but it was replaced by noisy, bumpy laps around flower beds, trees and ponds, with every tight turn risking a collision with a prized botanical specimen
Eventually, Ben escaped.
For a while, a flock of domestic geese took over as the garden's most enthusiastic groundskeepers.
Twenty years later, history repeated itself. A family home, a sizeable lawn, and a familiar dilemma: evenings spent mowing instead of spending time with the kids. Around bath time, the hints about getting a robotic mower became less subtle.
On his 47th birthday, he finally got one and it changed everything.
The lawn quietly looked after itself. Hours returned every week. The garden looked better than it ever had with less effort, and one question kept coming back:
Why isn't everyone doing this?
That's why Smart Lawn exists.
After years delivering technology projects for organisations around the world, Ben learned that great technology alone isn't enough. The difference between delight and frustration is almost always the quality of the installation, setup and ongoing support.
That's exactly how Smart Lawn works.
We don't just sell robotic lawnmowers. We install them properly, optimise them for your garden, and keep them performing season after season.
As AI and intelligent automation become part of everyday life, more of the jobs we've simply accepted as chores will quietly disappear.
Lawn mowing is just the beginning.
